Are flat perches really better for doves?

a wide flat shelf perch is good...wide enough so that the doves can sit comfortably with crushing their tail feathers....maybe up to 12 inches (30 cms) wide..place the shelf up high ...about 30 inches (75 cms) from ceiling of loft...they like to be up high....as for a round perch ...yes ...they also like them too...if you have enough room for both ..good..
